VoiCSA (originally Kol v'Oz) was established in 2016 as an Israel-based, international organization that is dedicated to combating child sexual abuse in the global Jewish community. Our work covers three broad areas:

ADVOCACY

VoiCSA focuses its activities on influencing high-level, relevant decision-makers, legislators and leaders, in Israel and in Jewish communities abroad, to ensure appropriate laws, policies and best practice are employed and implemented within their respective jurisdiction.

VoiCSA has:

Led a broad Jewish coalition of leaders, rabbis and organisations to change the statute of limitations in New York through the passing of the Child Victims Act.

Contributed greatly to the Australian Royal Commission into Institutional Responses to Child Sexual Abuse and the significant changes emanating from the Commission’s work.

Worked with the Israeli Knesset’s Committee for the Rights of the Child in addressing current issues unique to Israel and the global Jewish community.

Worked closely with the UK Government’s Independent Inquiry into Child Sexual Abuse where we have been allocated Core Participant status.

Published a range of best practice material, which has been disseminated to stakeholders.

Visited and worked with many communities around the world, including in places where the issue of child sexual abuse has never been openly discussed or addressed.

We continue to engage with many stakeholders from around the globe, publicly and behind the scenes, to ensure the prioritization and capacity of combatting child sexual abuse in the global Jewish community.

VoiCSA has:

Educated the public on the issue of child sexual abuse, including in the context of prevention, intervention and ongoing support to victims/survivors.

Raised awareness and helped shape the way the global Jewish community combats child sexual abuse.

Held public events, provided countless media interviews, wrote numerous opinion pieces and sent out occasional e-newsletters to its vast network.

Progressed and highlighted the notorious Malka Leifer case in Israel and abroad.

Embarked on an educational documentary to empower the community in combating child sexual abuse.

Currently, some of our key legislative priorities include:

Law of Return (Israel)

Statute of Limitations

Accessible and appropriate support for victims/survivors

Sex offenders’ registry

Internet safety

Another key VoiCSA priority is to ensure that all Jewish institutions who cater to children have robust policies and procedures in place and are implementing them.

AWARENESS

VoiCSA works to raise public awareness regarding the issue of child sexual abuse. We do this through the use of traditional and social media, participation in conferences, education and other means.

EMPOWERMENT

VoiCSA works to empower victim/survivor support and advocacy organizations who address the issue of child sexual abuse in their local Jewish community.  VoiCSA has a comprehensive directory of many of these organizations, and has been in direct contact with them over the years.
