Currently, some of our key legislative priorities include: Law of Return (Israel)
-
Statute of Limitations Reform
-
Accessible and appropriate support for victims/survivors
-
Sex offenders’ registry
-
Internet safety
Another key VoiCSA priority is to ensure that all Jewish institutions who cater to children have robust policies and procedures in place and are implementing them.
VoiCSA has:
-
Led a broad Jewish coalition of leaders, rabbis and organisations to change the statute of limitations in New York through the passing of the Child Victims Act.
-
Contributed greatly to the Australian Royal Commission into Institutional Responses to Child Sexual Abuse and the significant changes emanating from the Commission’s work.
-
Worked with the Israeli Knesset’s Committee for the Rights of the Child in addressing current issues unique to Israel and the global Jewish community.
-
Worked closely with the UK Government’s Independent Inquiry into Child Sexual Abuse where we have been allocated Core Participant status.
-
Published a range of best practice material, which has been disseminated to stakeholders.
-
Visited and worked with many communities around the world, including in places where the issue of child sexual abuse has never been openly discussed or addressed.
We continue to engage with many stakeholders from around the globe, publicly and behind the scenes, to ensure the prioritization and capacity of combatting child sexual abuse in the global Jewish community.
